Makeni Ecumenical Centre

Makeni Ecumenical Centre is a Christian serving agency, registered as a non-profit making institution, situated about ten kilometres from Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia. The campus is fifteen acres in size, in the suburb of Makeni.

Agricultural settlement villages at Kafue, Mwembeshi, Kalwelwe, Chisamba and Mwomboshi, totalling 6045 acres, have enabled settlement of hundreds of families.

The Centre provides primary, secondary and adult education courses in a variety of vocational subjects, as well as clinics, family planning services, and an AIDS orphan village.

Makeni Centre is a registered member of the Christian Council of Zambia, Ministry of Education; Technical Education and Vocational Entrepreneurship Training Authority (TEVETA); Ministry of Health; Pre-School Association of Zambia, Churches Medical Association of Zambia, City and Guilds of London (UK) and the Charities Aid Foundation (UK)

We have been thinking for some time that our old system of newsletters is not working very well - it is difficult to communicate with our over-worked staff in Zambia, and yet we do receive occasional items of news, so we have needed a way of drip-feeding information to this site. The obvious solution is a blog, and your webmaster has been looking at some alternatives for a while now. I have now finally succeeded in installing Movable Type, which seems to be working just fine, and looking quite nice.

Hopefully this will provide a way for various people to contribute to news on an occasional basis, and not prove to be a spam magnet. I'm still getting my head around the commenting options.
